Tell me, who continues to support the 287(g) program in Denton County when incidents like this occur? ICE is no longer targeting only undocumented individuals — their actions now impact a much broader community. If someone appears Hispanic or is deemed “suspicious” for any reason, they risk being targeted. By implementing 287(g), Denton County effectively deputizes local law enforcement to act as ICE agents. Consider the consequences: does this not erode the trust between law enforcement and the residents of Denton County? Can anyone genuinely argue that 287(g) makes our community feel safer? We must raise these concerns with our Denton County Commissioners. We need to support Meals On Wheels, we need to allocate our Opioid Settlement Fund, but most of all, we need Voting Centers. Right now we can vote anywhere in the County during Early Voting. But on the last day to vote, on the "Election Day", we cannot. 😤 This leads to confusion, and voters being redirected to other locations on Election Day. The "American Dream" used to be a belief where you could own a house with a roof over your head for a decent price. This is hard to come by for the modern day Texan. The reason housing prices are so high is due of two reasons - 1) The massive population increase in Texas 2) and more importantly, due to giant powerful corporations who buy several homes only to rent them out. As these corporations do this, they take houses off the market for the common person. My solution to this is to advocate for financially penalizing any entity (cooperation) that owns any more than 10 suburban family-homes within Texas.
