I see constant claims that the was "unfair" since he was "not allowed" to testify in the House

Guys, I've heard this consistent error depth on Twitter that Ken Paxton was shafted in his house impeachment trial, mainly saying that Ken Paxton was not allowed the opportunity to show up or even testify. General Paxton's press released yesterday that he wanted the opportunity to appear before us. Right, frankly, that opportunity should be afforded at the at the committee level.

That opportunity should be afforded to him. Look, just because Richard Hayes says so, and so do so many other people on Twitter, it does not make it true. He was in fact invited to testify multiple times. Mr. Smithy, um, are you aware that I, as chair of the Committee on Judiciary and Civil Jurisprudence, in which I

extended a direct invitation to Attorney General Ken Paxton to appear in front of our committee? Are you aware as to whether or not Attorney General Paxton accepted my invitation to appear in front of our committee? My assumption from your question is that he did not. He did not. issued a standing invitation to Attorney General Paxton to participate in any subsequent hearing of the committee on judiciary and civil jurisprudence? So in fact, Paxton was allowed to testify, invited to do so. He chose not to show up. So all you on Twitter who basically say he wasn't given the option, no, he was given the option.

But you know what's really weird? Now things are going to the Senate. He is specifically being told to testify to the Senate, and he doesn't want to. This guy is corrupt and he needs to go.
