We have a failing Medicaid system here in Texas. As healthcare providers are not provided enough support in order to apply their services, a lot of providers are meeting the hard decision to drop support for their Medicaid recipients and only service those who pay out of pocket. Meaning, hey, I guess if you're rich, then good for you. But if not, if you're just a Medicaid recipient, then,
well, you might be on your own. But hey, don't take my word for it. Listen to Kenneth, a healthcare service provider. What the problem is with the funding of Medicaid. Transportation 24 hours, 20 million house on $200. That right there is a woman who owns an LLC that provides assisted living. Assisted living for those who might have a bit of
a dementia or just simply cannot be trusted to live on their own. Maybe they'll leave the gas stove on, etc. And uh she provides services for all these people, but she's not getting enough money from Medicaid anymore to service those individuals as described. So she's coming to me, she's saying, Dale, man, like I'm not gonna go out of business because I'm gonna
continue to support only those who pay out of pocket, but I feel really bad that I have to drop all these Medicaid recipients. She's basically has all these people that she knows that she services, that she helps, and she's having to drop the support for them because the money's just not there. This whole financial situation could have been avoided if Texas was part of the Medicaid expansion program.
It is insane that we are not part of this program because we pay money to it anyways. Even though you're a Texan, you are paying money to a national program called the Medicaid Expansion Program, and only those states that opt into it get that money back. Case in point, you are spending money right now for healthcare programs in California right now and New Jersey, but not back here in Texas.
All because our governor would not allow us to join the Medicaid Expansion Program. A program that is favored by both Democrats and Republicans in the state and Senate chamber and has sent that bill to Governor Abbott's desk before, only for him to choose to not sign it. to We need to send leadership Austin that will continue to press for Medicaid
expansion because our elderly, our injured, our disabled, they need this support.
