First of all, I just have to commend Senator Sanders for even speaking in this way. But the solutions there are very redistributionist. His answer is let's raise taxes on the rich, take that money and give things to working class people. That's not what working class people want. What they actually want is something Senator Sanders talked about in 2015 when he was asked by Ezra Klein, um,
shouldn't you support open borders if you care so much about the poor? What about the global poor? To which Senator Sanders said, open borders. Hold on now. You asked about Bernie Sanders and his stance on making sure that the mega ultra wealthy pay their own fair share of taxes, because we got a lot of rich
people down here in Texas, like Elon Musk, the richest man in the world, Tim Dunferris Wolks, a whole bunch of people who own big massive oil companies down here, also with a lot of fracking and things like that. I mean, we have a lot of really wealthy, wealthy people down here in Texas, and they do not pay their own fair share of taxes. All the meanwhile, we have public schools that are closing
down here because our public education system is so desperately underfunded. Same thing with our health care system down here. Bernie Sanders just says, hey, make the wealthy people pay the same percentage of taxes, at least as we the common people do. Because you know, we the common people, we're it's an arm and a leg to pay for our property taxes
down here in Texas. And Elon doesn't have to worry about that. Man, like an Elon in his uh Tesla Giga factory in Travis County, he's received s substantial tax breaks uh for that as as a business. And you know, Elon Musk, he hasn't even spent a single dollar, not a single dollar in federal income tax in 2018.
Just we just want people to pay their own fair share of taxes. Or at least, if not that, maybe just at least increase the minimum wage. Would you be on on board with that? And honestly, you just can't get there with the minimum wage bill. Of course, I support people making minimum wage, making much
more than they're making, but I think what Trump was offeringing., because he was provid an alternative to the redistribution model This is the same tune I hear over and over again. Look, us in the working class, there are multiple different things that can be done, and everything that can be done should be done.
Increase the minimum wage, make the mega ultra rich pay their own fair share of taxes. But what you're doing is you're ignoring both of those things and just going directly to the border and referencing the border alone. This is such a common right-wing talking point. But no, that is not what the working class thinks. That's not the way our brains operate.
We know that the minimum wage has not been increased since the year 2009. Not 2019. No, since 2009, the minimum wage has not been increased. And inflation's killing all of us here. No one in the working class is sitting here thinking, oh, you know, the wealth distribution system, or in other words, making rich people pay their taxes.
No, no one's sitting here and having sympat uh sympathy for these billionaires. No one.
