The "American Dream" used to be a belief where you could own a house with a roof over your head for a decent price. This is hard to come by for the modern day Texan. The reason housing prices are so high is due of two reasons - 1) The massive population increase in Texas 2) and more importantly, due to giant powerful corporations who buy several homes only to rent them out. As these corporations do this, they take houses off the market for the common person. My solution to this is to advocate for financially penalizing any entity (cooperation) that owns any more than 10 suburban family-homes within Texas. A legislative measure like this will not effect anyone except for these corperations that intend to abuse our market.

One of the many issues we face here in Texas is the pricing on housing. Houses are crazy expensive here, and there's a couple of reasons for that. So, first of all, is due to the major population spike, which is unavoidable, right? Both Texas and California have the largest population spikes in the past decade, especially around here where I live.

But another one too, and it's something that's being worked on is zoning issues. There have been zoning laws saying that you cannot build multiplexes and nuplexes in certain areas, particularly around city areas. And this was just something to stimulate the market back in the day, but it's it's not helping us anymore, especially now, especially with the population boom, and it's something that is being worked on, uh, but it will be

worked on at the speed of government, which is incredibly slow. But one thing I really want to uh raise attention to, because one thing that is not being taken care of right now, it seems, one thing that is being unchecked is a problem where we have a few amount of big massive corporations buying up lots and lots of houses with only the intention to turn them into rental

homes. Uh, this is something where they target certain areas where they know the supply for housing is low, so they know the demand will be high, and they target those particular areas because they know as they take up the last amount of remaining supply, that increases their demand. So it's actually in their corporation's best interest to target the problem areas, the areas where we have where we

have a low supply of houses. So this is something that that hurts us really bad, something that we just really need to take care of.
