New at 10. There's a North Texas State Senate seat up for grabs, and whoever wins will hold the seat for four years. News 12's Austin Hedgecott spoke with both candidates today. Texas Senate District 30 covers 11 counties, and with incumbent Senator Drew Springer stepping down. Republican Brent Hagenboot and Democrat Dale Frey are both vying for the seat.
But they don't see eye to eye on much. Starting down at the southern border, Hagen Boo says the state needs to crack down. But Frey says it's time to step back and let Congress take control. The United States as a whole has a lot more funding to put towards CBP than just Texas alone. And closer to home, Frey wants to see better public
school funding first. Really, what we gotta do is we gotta push for one thing and say, hey, look, after we get this, this being funding our public schools, then we can talk about a voucher program. But Hagen Boo says school vouchers should be priority one. Part of the idea of you know freedom and liberty. So um I'm uh in favor of school choice.
I think parents should have a choice in educating their children. Both agree that this area is growing and that the state needs to support that growth. Building the roads and utilities and things we need is is critically important. Because you really need quality of life in order to sustain sustain a an economy and keep people moving here.
And both are asking for your vote. We need to let godly conservative leaders with common sense who are gonna do the right things for our economy and our country and in the in the state. I believe that people should look beyond the party system and understand who they're voting for on the ballot. Early voting runs through November 1st, and election days Tuesday, November 5th.
