We have health care providers in Texas that are dropping their Medicaid recipients right now because the Medicaid system is not supported enough in Texas. All while Texas is one of the few states that has opted out of the Medicaid expansion program. Are you gonna hold the line on that decision or are you gonna change your mind? No, uh we are.
We've been holding the line, but we are doing that within the confines of our own budget. We're gonna provide those who really need help, such as the disabled, the elderly, but we're gonna do so within the confines of our own budgetary resources. In other words, health care coverage will not be expanded. It will instead be decreased. Decreased to only those who need it.
But those who need it might not actually be all who really actually need it in the real world. It's only to what Governor Abbott believes are those who need it. What do you think of Chris Christie, the governor of New Jersey, announcing this week that he will take the federal dollars? Well, I don't know the details of how these other
states operate. I don't see why we should participate in a program that is like the sinking Titanic, where all we're doing is readjusting the chairs on the Titanic. Medicaid is a broken system and it shouldn't be expanded. I apologize for interrupting you, but how does Chris Christie benefit from this decision? How does Rick Scott benefit from it?
Why would they do it? I uh I guess they just feel a desperate need for the money from the federal government now without thinking about what's gonna happen two, four, and ten years from now, when their state budgets are gonna be hamstrung. Two, four and ten years from now, when their state budgets are gonna be hamstrung. News flash, that video that I just showed you is
ten years old. Ten years ago, Governor Abbott said that in t within ten years the New Jersey system would fall apart. It does not. In fact, the New Jersey healthcare system is far superior to that of Texas. There is no reason for us Texans to not be included in the Medicaid expansion program.
We need to elect people and send people to Austin who care about this and want us to be included into this program so that we can have the same level of care that New Jersey does. This is not a left first spring issue. This is not Democrat or versus Republican. Chris Christie's a Republican, he agreed to it, and a lot of other Republicans do.
We need Medicaid expansion in Texas.
