The governor is celebrating a bit early

Governor Greg Gabbin emerged as the big winner in the primary runoff. There will be plenty of votes to make sure we pass school choice. Results from Tuesday's runoff show in four of the six key house races, Abbott backed candidates ousted the incumbent. The people who are against school choice, uh, they really don't know why.

They just don't want to have competition in their schools. Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, hold on, hold on, hold on. Let's let's take a step back here, Mr. Governor. We know why we're against the school voucher scam. First of all, the school voucher program as proposed does not utilize our massive surplus at all.

We got money in the bank right now in Texas to pay for our roads, to pay for our infrastructure, and so much more. If you want a school voucher program in addition to what we currently have already, we can fund that through our massive surplus. But that's not what's happening right now. Uh the voucher program, as described as being proposed, specifically

sacrifices public education funding away from our public schools. All this while our public schools have already been defunded as it is here in Texas, because a decade ago, our legislature used to give more direct funding to our ISDs. But that's been refactored because in the past decade, now we've made it more dependent upon your property taxes that defa that uh funds your public schools, which is a

lopsided way of funding our local independent school districts because different districts have different amount of property tax values. So it's not equal at all. This has really been hurting our public schools and also our public school teacher salaries. Case in point, Vicky, a friend of mine who uh told me how much money she made before she retired as a public school teacher, I told her, My God,

Vicky, that was the same amount of money I made in my first job out of college. We have school teachers retiring with the same amount of salary as an IT guy like myself, with the same salary got my first job out of college. Things have gotten so bad here in Texas between underfunding our our teachers and our systems and the lack of support that we give them that we have literally lost

forty percent of our school staff in the past two years. We're also losing at least three schools, uh, public schools in the Plano area in Texas. And I hate to sound cynical, but I've seen this movie before, I know what's gonna happen next. These schools that we're losing in Plano, Texas, they're going to be sold by the ISD there because they need

the money, they're going to sell it Someone's going to buy it, and then that person who buys those local facilities, they're going to turn them into charter schools. And then those charter school owners are going to want the voucher program to support them out. Folks, you see what's going on right now. This whole thing is nothing more than a scam to

privatize our public education system. That is what is happening here. The school voucher program and the private privatization of our public education system is not the will of the people. It is the will of Tim Dunn and Ferris Wilkes, two Texas oil billionaires who want to push their personal Christian national values upon our Texas politics. That is what is happening here.

And look, I understand that in the past session, Governor Greg Abbott pushed for a bill that would include both a little voucher program binded with an increase to teacher salaries and more money to our ISDs. And I understand the concept of negotiation, but what some of you may not realize or not understand here in the inside baseball up on how local politics here happens in Texas is that we can't trust the governor because

the governor has a superpower called line item veto power. This is really important. Understand this. The president of the United States has the ability to veto bills as a whole. Governors, however, have something beyond that. They have line item veto power, where before they sign a bill, they get the opportunity to reach inside of

that bill and then subtract line by line, sentence by sentence, parts of that bill that they do not like. Governor Greg Abbott has a history of abusing that power very much. So even if we did want to negotiate and push forward an omnibus bill that would contain both a miniature voucher program and an increase to our public. schools, we know what he will do

We know that he will use his line item veto power and subtract out the parts that would increase the funding for our public schools and only keep the voucher program as well and then sign that into law. He has done this before with other bills of other subjects. Folks, our public schools in Texas are under attack right now.

And what we need are Texas State Senators who will stand in support for our public schools and be against the school voucher scam. The state house so far has been against school vouchers. As seen in this video, I don't know how long they can last with that. I don't know. We'll only know after November.

But we need to stop the state senate from pushing the voucher program. And I am running to be your Texas State Senator, and I want to stand up for our public schools and our public school teachers. I hope coming this November you will find my name on the ballot as well as other names. And I hope that you look at every name, including
