Parts of a Texas law that would have required booksellers to rate sexual content in books sold to schools will not go into effect. A federal appeals court this week declined to reconsider an earlier ruling that sided with booksellers who said the law violates the First Amendment. These laws are sort of patently absurd and on their face are antithetical to First Amendment values.
