Early voting for the March primary starts next week, and we're continuing to help prepare you to go out and vote. District 30 has three Democrats fighting it out for a spot on the November ballot for state senator. Ariel Reed is following the candidates, and today she introduces us to Dale Frey. Dale Frey is originally from DC, but moved to Texas

with his wife several years ago. His father-in-law, a former school teacher, was struck with cancer, and he experienced firsthand the effects of the health care system. My father in law, you know, he had uh cancer, and we're trying to do everything we can help him out. And I was just shocked to see just, you know,

just how bad things are when it comes to the medical uh Medicare system, especially uh as he was a retired school teacher. Frey joined the race because he wants to right the wrongs within Texas's health care system. He also wants to help out school teachers. He believes educators should be paid more for all they do.

And I was shocked to find out that one of my good friends, uh, the salary she was making uh that she retired with was near the same salary that I got my first job at college. But though the the school teachers here are dramatically underpaid. Alongside the issues with health care and education, Frey wants to run because he believes there needs to be a change of leadership in Austin to fix any glaring problems.

We have serious problems here. Our schools are horribly underpaid, or the medical assist care system's broken. We have a failing power grid and so many uh other issues. Frey runs to bring change for the better and advise for the Democratic spot on the November ballot. In Wichita Falls, I'm Ariel Reed, KFDX Three News.

Frey is the first Democratic candidate we've introduced you to on the primary ballot.
