My name is Christy Wood. I'm a constituent from Precinct 4168 and have been an election judge since 2016. You have heard from me before in support for countywide voting centers on Election Day. You have also heard from numerous other election judges concerning this topic. Now I am not here to give you any more
statistics or reasons for supporting countywide voting centers on election day. I'm here to tell the truth to those who do not know why Denton County hasn't already enacted countywide voting centers. The truth is, most voters I've talked to, most election workers, most Denton County election administration staff, and indeed most of this very commissioner's court supports countywide voting centers
on Election Day. However, we, the 680,000 registered Denton voters, the election workers and you are all being held hostage by one person. Denton County Republican Chair Melinden Preston. It takes a majority of the county commissioners plus the agreement of both political party chairs to enact changing our election system from precinct based to countywide election day voting
locations. After collecting data on voter redirection over the course of several elections spanning a couple of years now, after presenting the advantages of countywide election day voting centers to you in public and private meetings, and after receiving favorable indications from the majority of this court, and after receiving public agreement for those changes from Delia Parker Mims, the Denton County Democratic Party Chair, the loan holdout is Melinda Preston.
Every one of you on this court is a Republican, but these issues affect all Denton voters regardless of political affiliation. What can you do, Commissioners and Judge Eads? Please reason with your own party chair to end this hostage situation. Be the hero to your constituents and to your employees. If the Denton County Republican chair will not listen to
what their own constituents, precinct chairs, and elected officials are telling them it's the right thing to do, replace her the way the Dallas County Republican Party chair was replaced after their disastrous attempt at precinct based voting. Keep ignoring this issue at the risk of dissatisfying your own voting base, risking political consequences when it is time for your re election run. We election workers, your employees, have presented you with compelling
reasons to support countywide voting centers on election day. We urge you to change Melinda Preston's mind. Thank you very much.
