Good evening, uh fellow uh Frisco City Council members. Uh my name is Dale Frey, I live at 6017 Cypress Crow Drive in the Colony, Texas. I am the um I do public public relations for Progressive Leaders Toastmasters. I am the president of the Frisco Democratic Club. I'm a formal senatorial candidate for Texas State Senate District 30, which encompasses all of Frisco.
I am for a former precinct chair and I'm currently running for the position of Denton County Clerk. Now, I come today in order to supply y'all with a couple of suggestions. But before I get to that, I think I need to acknowledge that I know, and everyone in this room should know how this microphone works. The conversations go in one direction.
If I was to ask you a question, I am not gonna expect you to answer on the spot, because after all, if you did, you'd be taken away from my five-minute time limit, right? Additionally, if you were to answer or respond to a question on the spot, this could turn into a debate, which is why I'm not gonna ask you directly a question or expect an answer immediately.
And I think everyone in the room should know that. Now, before I go into my suggestions, and speaking of questions, by the way, I want to highlight an old trick that I see a lot of people doing to this microphone right here. And that is the oldest trick of the book, and that is supplying a statement in the form of a question.
I see lots of people do this. I even sometimes peep see people making racist statements in the form of a question. This is very convenient to the speaker because when they do this, he now has the excuse where if he gets called out called out, he could say, What's wrong? I was just asking questions. What are you trying to censor me?
This is the oldest trick in the book. Watch out for this tactic. Another common tactic you'll see is people talking really, really fast, going from topic to topic, changing the topic mid-sentence, asking questions over here, immediately going over there and asking another question. When a speaker, a true genuine speaker, will speak at a rate and a pace where the audience can hear
what the speaker says and then processes the information in their head. That is what a genuine speaker does. When someone talks really, really quick like that, changing the topic constantly, they're trying to confuse the audience. And more importantly, they're trying to make sure the audience doesn't have the time to process the message because this breaks their ability to supply critical thinking.
Now, another thing I do want to say is that I've seen an example of this all the time. For example, if someone says, Why are there so many insert group here people in Frisco? Pick your enemy. It could be black people, it could be Jewish people, it could be more recently I heard Indian people. When someone's asking a statement like that, why are there
so many of these insert group people here? They're not asking a genuine question. They're trying to make a statement. So my my suggestion is this, and I know this is gonna sound crazy, but I think it's your only option. Your only option is to ignore them. I know that sounds crazy, but you honestly have no
other choice. If you were to respond to them, they will take bad actors will take everything that you say, take snippets of that conversation and put it on their social media. There's no way of interacting with bad actors without giving them what they want. Also, obviously, no one's trying to censor anybody, right? I think we can all acknowledge that.
And the thing is this if if you do censor them, which no one's going to, but if you did, you're giving them exactly what they want. Because to a lot of these bad actors, uh to a lot of these bad actors, persecution is a signal of virtue to them. They want to be persecuted. And that's why you see a lot of these really
bad actors, like Nick Fuentes, for example, will spout racist rhetoric on social media to the point he gets banned because he wants to be banned, because when he does get banned, he gets to say, look at me, I'm being censored. Because to his audience, persecution is a signal of virtue. My fellow city council members, it pains me to tell you this.
But honestly, the only option you have for some of these bad actors is just to ignore them. There's no way of engaging with some of these individuals in a way that will be beneficiary to any of us. Thank you for your time and God bless America
